The Competition 2015

On 25th October the first Guards Para Association Golf tournament took place at Datchet Golf Club with 11 members of the Association teeing off after a hard night of drinking and merriment. The competition started at 10.30am to give those who had had a small libation the night before to get themselves together and to at least try to see straight and tee off in the right direction i,e, towards the 1st green and not the car park. Most members did in fact make a good start but some ended up in the nearest tree on the left. Others decided to go by train, and so guided their ball over onto the railway track which is adjacent to the right hand side of the fairway!

Datchet is a tricky little golf course (as you may have gathered so far) So the organisers decided to make the competition for nine holes only, even so, some members had difficulty standing up and reading the directions for the next tee box.

The Competition was a success although next year we would like to invite more members who are golfers to bring their clubs and join us.

The ladies went off first to enable them to reach the club house early so as they could reach the bar without difficulty and purchase a sniffter first, before the rabble appeared.

After the game was over most of the male golfers couldn't even see the bar let alone stand up to order a drink.

The prize giving took place once we had all regained our composure again.
The match was finally won by one point by a tricky tall silver surfer gentleman from Newcastle called Derick (an Ex Welsh Guard)

The Longest Drive: was won by Zoro who wasn't wearing his mask, as he had left it in the club house earlier.

Nearest The pin: This was a none event! as nobody managed to get a ball onto the green. On this the 7th hole some member's golf balls ended up on the road from Datchet to Windsor, other members managed to hit the ditch behind the green. but nobody was sober enough, or really cared that much by this time.

After the Prize giving, seventeen members dined at the Golf Club, and then stayed on still swinging the light shade until dusk fell.

Thanks to those who took part. We look forward to seeing you again next year.

NOTE: Our No1 Golfer and this years prize winner, will be bringing back the Silver Goblets all polished up for next years competition.
